Engine compatibility

although I know very little about Subaru ( only that they are very popular in mountainous area like rocky mountain regions and pretty 'thick here in Utah,) based on the question I don't think you would have a problem with that because it is the same engine type, just a different year. What Subaru did as far as any changes in between those years, I do not know. it sounds like you are in decent shape, though. good luck
