Subaru Crosstrek Transmission

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have read the strings regarding Subaru
transmission problems. And yes I did get the
extended warranty. But before 100,000 miles I had
no issues so was told nothing needed to be done.
Now I’m beyond the miles on the warranty and
guess what..,transmission is failing. Given estimate
Of $8,000 to replace!  Outrageous!  Has anyone
had luck with getting Subaru to own up to what it
knew was a problem - a ticking bomb  just waiting
to blow?  At 117,000 on a car with all scheduled
maintenance completed at the dealer - why am I
now going to be out $8000??? Solutions anyone
or is lemon law suit my only option?

I would hit up SOA for a good will replacement. They may not cover all the costs but they may cover some of them. Lemon laws would not cover your case. Cars do wear out.

As a last resort get a used CVT. Once you get it trade it in on a good car instead of a Subaru!
