2004 Ford explorer will not go into any gear

Could be several things. 1. Stuck; you need the shift-lock override. Check owners manual, also available on line, just google your car. 2. Brake-shift solenoid that releases shifter when brake is depressed is defective.3. Broken shifter. Could be as simple as a broken spring.
