What would caus the tachometer to jump around or peg out
. I am thinking mabie a bad ground has anyone else had
this problem

I'm guessing it has the 3.8L engine, most do, if the car runs ok the problem is most likely in the instrument cluster or connection. The signal for the tach originates at the crankshaft sensor, from there to the ECM, from there on up to the cluster. Most clusters have a pc board on the back and they tend to crack / break as well
