You might run into trouble if you changing things like number of cylinders or volume. If the car you have right now has a V6 and the 12’ has a V8. No. If one you have is a 3900 v6 then pretty much any Chevy, GM or Pontiac motor should honestly fit. But ya. If the new engine is the same size and same number of Cylinders it should work fine. EXCEPT. Newer impalas have VVT engines. These engines SOMETIMES require extra electronics to control the camshaft since there VVTed. Check that out first. If it’s the same motors. Both are the same transmission (auto or manual) then yea, should more or less fit. But honestly. Engine replacements can really be a waste of time. Sometimes a new engine will wind up with the same problems. Look into rebuilding the engine you have first.
