How do I adjust the driverside door-misaligned when closing

Asked by Senior_Steve1946 Feb 11, 2012 at 11:06 AM about the GMC Sierra 3500HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm 65 and haven't worked on any vehicle in decades. I bought this 1995 GMC Sierra HD Flatbed for work around the ranch. Drivers side door is out of alignment and before I get creative, which usuallyends up take it to a garage, I thoght I'd ask the question.

Thanks,

Steve

it probably needs new bushings and pins- if you don't know how to do that, you will want to take it to a garage or body shop.

It's a two if not three man job or even better if you have a roof winch. You'll need to remove the old door pins and metal bushings which can be hard as they tend to get stuck in to old hinges. Best to have it done in a shop if you'd never done anything like this.
