I have a 2017 Sonata SE. The first things I look at is I don't want a double clutch or CVT tranny and especially don't want a timing belt. Chain only or NO SALE. Unless I've really screwed up, the Sonata has a Shiftronic 6 speed tranny and a timing chain. I'm not too sure I like the Direct Gas Injection, as the carbon can build up on the intake valves because the gas cleaner doesn't wash over them, I use "Top-tier" gas and hope for the best. It's covered under the long powertrain warrantee and you can't always get exactly what you want. For the price, the 2.4 L normally aspirated engine goes pretty quick and even the (usually crappy) Kunho Solus OEM tires have run well over the first 9000 miles. They do spin though under aggressive accel. and I'm going to replace them at 10,000. They leak a lb of Nitrogen a month too, I have T.C. switched on so I expect better.
