Is it a bad idea to buy a Saturn now that the brand has been discontinued?

SATURN PARTS ARE BEING DISCONTINUED AND IF YOU BUY AN OUTLOOK YOU WILL BE LOOKING IN A SALVAGE YARD A LOT. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING ONE.

Tom is exactly right do you know what the difference between a GMC Yukon and a Cadillac escalade? Price tag and some emblems. Cavalier, Sunfire, little saturn olds achieva all identicle. Grand am, Malibu, alero identical. Firebird, camaro. Rendezvous, vibe. General motors (Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Hummer Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn), ford motor company (Ford, Mercury, Lincoln), and Chrysler (Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth) decided to make production simple but keep options available take a car and change fenders bumpers doors and tail lights and throw a different name on it. Without that idea, everybody would be driving around in identicle cars. Some cases absolutely nothing is changed except the manufacturing amblems, like the dodge grand caravan Plymouth voyager and Chrysler town and country. Line them up remove the badges and try to tell which is which. Like tom said you will be able to get parts for that vehicle forever. I don't feel like looking up when AMC quit making vehicles but you can still get parts for those and to go even further back Studebaker parts are very hard to find but still available that's 60 or so years.

My wife and I just got 2008 Outlook a few weeks ago and parts should not be hard to find. The Outlook is the same as the GMC Acadia, which is still produced.

The response that Saturn parts are "being discontinued" is dead wrong. The Outlook is essentially a rebadged GMC Acadia, of which there are scads of them out there.

Bought a 2008 Outlook about two months ago, and I'm not worried at all about parts or service.

Since the saturn brand is no longer made, some people shy away from the Outlook because of it. There is no need to, as parts and service are readily available from any GM dealer. I have my Outlook serviced at my neighborhood Chevrolet dealer and have never had an issue.

I needed to replace my 2009 Saturn Aura fuse box. Not one US dealer had it, nor did the GM warehouse. It took me a month to find one from salvage.

I am looking to buy a 2007 Saturn ION for my son as a starter car. would Parts be expensive or hard to find?

I was looking at a Saturn Ion as well but after 10 years GM is no longer required to stock the parts, so....back to a Ford Focus I guess :(

I'm looking at a Saturn Vue SUV with 78,000 miles like new. I wonder if it is worth it given they stopped making Saturn? Maybe too good to be true?!

I have a 2006 Saturn vue stick shift I love my car wish they didn't quit making them, I have 216,989 miles on it. I haven't had problems with getting my car fixed with parts.

I own a 2007 Ion and all parts are readily available with a little searching on the internet. Virtually no issues other than a failed rear window motor in my 12 years of ownership. Over 196000 miles and it looks and runs like new. The 2.2 liter ecotec motor lubrication problems were corrected in 2005 and is one of the most popular and durable motors used by GM worldwide.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue V6. My problem is the moter caskets. I'm on my 3 time fixing the same problem. I was informed they no longer make parts for this car. Can't find seals that fit properly. This problem has caused me to replace 2 alternators due oil saturating it. My son had to make a seal just to fix it. I hope. I'm afraid it's going to happen again. I can't afford a new car right now. Can anyone out there give some advice or information. Would be greatfully appreciative on some input.

Same problem. I think with older Saturns, the parts are harder to find. I have a 2002 Saturn LW300 and it has been in the shop 2 weeks at a time while they are having trouble finding parts to fix it.

Are the tail lights on a Acadia the same on a 2007 outlook
