i have a 2006 milian and the engine light is on all the time. i purchased a new gas cap and i still have the light. it will not go off what can i do been to a mechanic he is the one who told me

have the check engine code read( should give you a code with P0xxx) , if he told you to change the fuel cap then its most likely a code for evap leak, easiest way to test for those is to have a shop with a smoke machine test it (it should not be expensive depnding on shop and area maybe around $100 )
