towing capacity for a GMC 2500 sierra

Asked by schase7 Feb 17, 2016 at 01:54 PM about the GMC C/K 2500 Series

Question type: General

The towin capacity for my 2007 GMC 2500 (gas V8) is 10k#.  I'll be hauling a
gooseneck horse trailer - what are your max recommendations for hauling
weight that won't hurt the transmission?

1 Answer

Keep the weight under the max and you should be good to go. It won't hurt to change the transmission fluid first. If you will be doing a lot of towing up steep grades then you might want to upgrade the transmission fluid pan and install a transmission fluid temperature gauge.
