Asked by rootj21187 Dec 19, 2012 at 02:21 PM about the Pontiac Solstice

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Went to start my 08 Solstice and put the key in, turned it....nothing happened...other than I cannot get the key out nor can I back it up to the original starting position.  (I can turn mywheels so it's not locked in original position even).  Can't start car...(even tried jumping it, brand new battery has been in it for 4 months w/no problem).  Any ideas what the heck could be the problem?

PRNDL switch. Try starting it in neutral. If it starts in neutral then the prndl switch park position isn't showing its in park to start it and its not allowing the key the release.

Ahhh I thought you meant it shifts just doesn't start and can't remove the key. That would be something with the ignition lock cylinder or switch that's not releasing.
