Does every Cadillac DTS have only a 4 speed transmission - I was thinking of buying a used one

4 speed transmission in all DTS's - really? I was thinking of buying one. Seems odd for an 8 cylinder vehicle. Do they only come
with 4 speeds? thanks

As the man above says, you dont need any more than 4 speeds. In 4th gear on the highway, at 70mph, the tach reads just below 2000 RPM. You cant ask for less wear on an engine that that. Besides it gets 27-28 miles pe gallon at that speed. Perfect.

Thanks so much! I hadn't thought about the big engine grinding the transmission - seems to make more sense now. The Canadian gallon is larger than the American gallon so I think I can look forward to at least 35mpg. That's about what I get from my 3.2litre CTS (2003) now. I will definitely continue my search for a used DTS. Thanks!
