Have you checked the ignition system? These were known to have ignition module ballast resistor block and distributor pick up problems back then. And get good quality replacements like NAPA or Standard. Also seen a fee that the ignition switch would just up and fail, it would start it up but when released the engine would die, no power to the resistor block in the run position. Just a few things to check.

Ok thank you will try that also is there supposed to be gas shooting up from the carb? It does that when i try to start it

No, that usual means that you have an intake valve open or burnt.

No the resistor is new and so is the distributor cap but there is this random blue wire thats hooked a block of some sort and the drivers side but the other end isnt connected although it looks like it goes on a round thing above the distributor cap

And sometimes it would run for like 3 seconds and the accelerator works but after 3 secs it just shuts itself off

Your describing an electronic problem. Module, pick up something like that.

There is this blue wire that runs to the side of the drivers side into yhis weird metal plugin and it hooks up into the thing above the starter that was the first thing i messed with when i got it and it ran and after that hasnt ran since but i thought it was the ignition wire i dont really know what it hooks up too

This is it

Not the starter the distributor cap sorry

That looks like someone had bypassed the dual stage ballast resistor and ran a wire directly from the starter relay right to the coil so it got full battery voltage during cranking.

Well its not even firing it just cranks and cranks
