Head gasket or a soft plug is leaking and is running between trans and engine.

Hi Zeak and thanks for your answer, do you happen to know how many core plugs there are? I could only find one with my inspection mirror and it wasn't leaking, and other than a little oil around the back of both head gaskets, I couldn't see any water... also the trans fluid stick and the oil stick do not show any signs of water. the only other sign I have is the heater wouldn't produce any heat, could it be as simple as a t-stat stuck closed?

I would say you got a head gasket leaking causing pressure to build in the radiator which will not let the coolant to circulate. You can put a pressure gauge on your radiator to tell if it is over pressure. the pressure is coming from a cylinder that is leaking while running and may not be leaking when off. Did you get the engine hot?

I've noticed that the 2019-2020 Ram 1500 hemi has defective radiators. I have a 2020 Ram 1500 hemi limited and park in the garage. Within 20min of coming home the whole garage smelled like antifreeze. If you walked passed the front of the truck you'd smell antifreeze also. I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong and it passed pressure test. Knowing that couldn't be true I took it to a nationally know chain and asked them to diagnose the smell. They said my radiator was bad and had a small leak. They took pics of the dots where it had leaked and I told them to replace the radiator and id deal with fca later. They called back and said no aftermarket radiators were available yet and they'd have to get one from the dealer. It said fine. For 8k miles I didnt smell anything and all was well and FCA even reimbursed me. But now just 8k miles later im left with another Ram brand radiator thats leaking. This is a widespread problem. Ive gone to other Ram dealers and test drove newer rams in the used department and they smell like anti freeze also. Its a shame! Wish FCA would own up to the bad radiators and give us a new revised one. Its such a small leak you won't see anti freeze on the ground and it will take a long to to lose a noticeable amount! But you sure can smell it and its not normal. It's a bad radiator

I absolutely agree. I have a 2020 ram hemi 1500 limited and have had the identical experience. FCA reimbursed me as well after taking the truck elsewhere. The new radiator didn't smell for 6k miles and now smelling up my garage again. Looking into getting a radiator made for $1200 or getting the one i have repaired. Maybe that will fix it for good. Sad we have to deal with this.
