key wont turn ignition

I came out in the middle of the night and caught someone breaking into my van
they left the key in my ignition and when I took it out and put my key in the
ignition my key didnt work, I put in the ignition and it did nothing it wont even let
the ignition turn nothing and  my battery died the lights dont work nothing

check the radio if radio work or not security system if you see the battery change into lock check your switch there is coil inside the switch need some one to program the key put the switch inside in its place then turn to on not start for ten minutes then off 10 seconds turn on 10 minutes then off 10 seconds turn on 10 minutes then off 10 second then try to start your car
