blown head gasket

Asked by scorpiomike Apr 01, 2014 at 08:37 PM about the Chevrolet Suburban

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I think I have a blown head gasket but my oil isn't milkey. But I have water coming out of exhaust and some white smoke. So am I right to assume that it is a blown head gasket and is there a way to be sure?

Water in the exhaust is in fact normal due to condensation. But if you have antifreeze coming out... yes, that is a problem. Are you noticeably loosing coolant in the system and is it disappearing? Are there cylinders misfiring?

@js08016 The description you gave is exactly what is happening to my 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe Or. White billowy clouds. Drills water from tail pipe. Runs super rough when I can get it to start. But oil is clean and so is coolant. Could that be just a gasket or would the heads be bad too?
