Husband has a 1973 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup and it won't start. Has spark but won't turn over

Used for snowplowing and doesn't get alot of use.  Started it one morning and was running heard a pop and now won't start.  Says he has spark but it won't turn over, any ideas?

the pop may be a high amp spark at battery ground on engine or battery or starter motor,bang on starter a little with wrench

Thanks, he replaced the fuel filter and fiddled with everything again, its now running fine. Thanks for the imput!
