i have a 1993 chevy with the 4.3 v6 and it starts and runs fine until it warms up then after driving it starts idling very high and sometimes when i stop at a stoplight it will die

Check for vacuum leaks. Take some carburetor cleaner with the engine running and spray along the intake manifold gasket, and the throttle body base gasket. You would notice a change in the rpms if there is a vacuum leak. Snug up the intake manifold bolts and replace the throttle body base gasket.
