Automatic trans shifting problem

I recently replaced my engine in my 94 1500 automatic 4x4 silverado. I had a good
running 88 350  basically the same as the original. It runs great but the problem is it try's
to shift too quick when I accelerate then it has to shift back down so back and fourth it
does that. I found out the 94 trans shifts by computer but the older 88 model didn't. I
didn't nt put the 94 manifold back on the 88 that I installed in my truck. So what can the
problem be and  how to solve it. My original engine with the correct manifold is gone so I
can't use that. I don't understand what sends the signal to the trans when to shift since it
doesn't have the same  linkage as the 88. I do notice there is another plug in in the
harness down close to where the main harness plugs into the transmission. Does
anybody have any advice. Thanks lots  Jim

the trans uses the TPS to control shifts as well as the speed sensor. The TPS should be on the throttle body
