Question type: Maintenance & Repair

shifter moves I can feel it going into gears  but seems like it is stuck in park.
shift cable fine.  I can move front driveshaft but rear shaft locked up. jacked
up truck rear and can move rear tires so differentials fine. Is there some sort
of electronics that would keep truck stuck in park but allow shifter to move.
Also sometimes after shifting into drive I have to shutoff key to get it back in
park. HELP!

You will need a live data scanner to see if the computer is seeing a gear selection and the TCM responding properly, if it doesn't see a selection the the TCM won't apply the right solenoid, if it does see the right selection then it could be the TCM not sending the signal to the correct solenoid or there's something broke inside the transmission. But I'm leaning more towards an electronic problem cause you stated you had problems getting it into park. HTH
