well if you take the air box cover off and everything runs sooth and fine. check for any air restrictions from the airbox to the air inlet (so basicly everything befor the airbox)

If your using higher octane fuel, your knock sensor maybe bad. It should throw a code and your check engine light maybe on.

why is it that people think the higher octane they run the better it is??????

Right all higher octane does is prevent detonation, but with a knock sensor the pcm can advance or retard the timing and change the time when the injectors are open.
