Clunking sound from tranny.

Asked by williav52 Aug 28, 2015 at 10:08 PM about the Honda CR-V

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, I have a 2004 Honda Cr-v with a 5 speed manual transmission, 157,000 mi., that has started making a clunking sound while driving. the clunk is rhythmic, speeds up as the car speeds up, slows down when the car slows down. While driving and in gear, if you depress the clutch, the clunking goes away, and returns when engaged. Clutch reservoir is full, and the clutch is not slipping. however there is some excess travel in the pedal. Any thoughts
