I have a 1994 Honda Accord - I will be driving down the road when all of a sudden everything in the car goes dead.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I will be driving the car when everything in the car goes dead and the car comes to a stop. I put the car in park, remove the key, put the key back in and start the car. It might not happen for another day or 2? I also have a check engin light on and maintenence light on?

Somerville, the very first thing you need to do is go to your local Advanced Auto Parts and have them read your engine codes. They will do this for free. It could be something as simple as needing a tune-up. Dont panic yet...

Somerville, I had a Toyota Corolla and just happened to be taking it to the dealer for an annual inspection one day in a winter snow storm and had the heater, defroster, and wipers on and the car just stopped dead. No battery, no nothing. Had it towed to the dealer, anyhow took them 5 hours and they finally found one broken wire in a harness in-between the front fender and the inner fender, All of the mechanics (and my buddy who was a salesman) swore they had never seen a problem like this, and the car had run fine for about one year that I had it before this (bought it brand new). Just saying, the dealer said one single wire stopped the car dead, with no fuses blown or no hints as to what was wrong.
