you need fuel spark and compression for a engine to run. you should first scan car for codes first and go from there.

I had an issue like this. My rx300 died and after trying to crank it over and over the battery died. Got it towed home. We could not start it. The security light stayed on when trying to crank. For a month I tried to call everyone I could think of. Thought the key had lost its programming. Last ditch effort was to but the Toyota techstream software WITH CABLE off EBay. The minute I hooked up the cable to the OBD port the ECM started talking to the car again and the car started. I did not even have to hook the cable to my computer.

Kimberly Starr--what year was your car? This is the exact problem with mine. I drove it to the repair shop and they can't figure out what's wrong with it. I've changed the starter. battery fine. for some random reason, the repair shop thinks it's a security issue--like a kill switch
