It means time to get it in for service, or kiss your transmission goodbye.

The transmission needs to have fluid in it to work properly. Do not drive it with the leak. You will easily burn the transmission up. Fix the leak and the jumping and hard shifting will go away.

Tow it to the shop.

Thank you and does this have anything to do with the fact that it sometimes won't start up after I turn it off?

No, that is another issue.

Thanks any ideas of what issue?

Anything from needing a tuneup to a bad fuel pump or other issue. Is the CEL on?

No it isn't but one time did then came right back off!!
