New problem with an otherwise GREAT 2008 Lincoln Navigator started a few months ago. - power lift gate would go up, then ding, ding, ding, come back down on top of my head. Dealer "reinitialized power lift gate motor" and charged $70. Immediately after that, the inside switch no longer opened or closed the power lift gate, although the remote control button and the button on the gate itself would work. Dealer said it was a DIFFERENT problem and "reprogrammed the switch module". Seemed to me to be something they overlooked when they "reinitialized the motor" - but they insisted it was a totally separate, unrelated problem.... and charged me another $50. NOW, one week later, the lift gate is beginning to come down on my head again. You may have the same problem.....but I'm not sure what the answer is. CAN ANYONE INFORM ME WHETHER IT APPEARS TO THEM THAT THE TWO PREVIOUS "REPAIRS" WERE JUST A SHOT IN THE DARK - AND I SHOULD CERTAINLY ASK THEM TO FIX AT NO COST - AT THIS TIME?? I've researched a lot online, and some sites say the STRUTS might really be the problem, and they should cost $15 or so apiece.

2018 Navigator random opening/closing of cargo door. Dealership working the issue with Lincoln so far no charge.

Peacock Ford, Winter Park, FL. They tried a few things to no avail. I think the real fix was putting in new struts on the tail gate lift.

Same situation on 2018 Lincoln Navigator. Liftgate opens on its own several mintues after turning off and everytime I shut it when vehicle off. Drained battery. It was suggested to put new batteries in key fob. That did not do the trick. Going to dealer on Monday. Not good Lincoln...great way to let a vehicle go dead or get broke into.

Update: Back from dealer. Confirmed there is a known issue with liftgate opening on its own. Expect replacement equipment this week. If you have a 18 Lincoln Navigator, contact dealer. Other issue known has to deal with battery draining prematurely due to electrical draw involving trailer package. Fix for this is back ordered.

We own 2018 Lincoln Navi L and the back door opens on its own intermittently. Finally took it in when I came out of store and the back door was open half way. Then I tried using my key fob to open/close and it would work. So I manually lifted the door open. Immediately it closed on me without the sensor sensing me in the door. After fighting with the back door (opening and closing) the door finally closed and stayed closed. It’s now at in for service and they are trying to figure out what’s going on.

2018 Navigator and liftgate opens by itself. Usually when shutting front doors. Dealer tried to fix it twice and is now replacing the SUV as a result (I got the openings on camera). They need to admit to the problem and do recall!
