Jeep vs ford

Asked by Heyyocasedog Mar 11, 2012 at 08:21 PM about the Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have a ford f 150 single cab 2001 model it also has only 54,000 miles on it.. I have the opportunity to trade it for a
1998 jeep grand Cherokee limited that has 130,000 miles. The jeep is the top of the line model and the ford is just
basic stoke. So what should is do take the cherokee or the ford with an additional 1,000.

That's a good question. I love my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited that is still rocking and rolling at well over 100,00+ miles. My husband drives it and put huge tires on it. Boy does he look sexy driving that Jeep. (SMILES) I think you may be in the clear as far as major services that most Jeeps are infamous for. Electrical problems galore. At about 35,000 is when the AC/Heat started acting up on my Jeep. One it was fix, we've never had an issue with it. We recently drove it from Washington, D.C., to Lake George, NY, to The Ben & Jerry's Factory in Vermont, Bangor, Maine, Camden, Maine and back down to Washington, D.C. with NO problems. It's a 4x4 so the North Country's weather was a joke to our girl. It won't have the flat bed like a pickup truck which comes in handy but the seats do fold down for needed space provided you don't have rear passengers. Which is why I got an R500. The salesman wanted my Jeep for trade and I said, "HECK NO"! Go for it but see if they'll tell you about any services done to the vehicle. That way, a few months down the road, you won't feel like you've purchased a lemon. Jeeps Rock~ Good luck~ You only live once, I think? (SMILES) J. Lytle

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4, with over 204,000 miles. It has the straight-six, 4.0 liter engine, whic is very tough and reliable. It is a wonderful vehicle, and it is my all time favorite. Very versatile- 4 wheeling, hunting, going out for dinner and a movie, shopping, pulling a 14 x 6 cargo trailer, long TDY trips, vacations, and it is and excellent in bad weather. It is extremely comfortable to drive and handles like a sports car. When Daimler-Benz bought Chrysler in the mid-nineties, they completely remade the Grand Cherokee starting in model year 1999. The suspension and steering were subcontracted to Porsche, making it such a pleasure to drive. I have just one tip- never run more than 28 psi in the tires. If they are over inflated AT ALL, the GC is skittish because it is very sensitive to tire pressure. I run 28 psi front and rear and it is just perfect for stability and comfort. I like it so much, would buy another 1999 tomorrow, with 4x4 and the straight six.
