How can I install an after market radio in a 2005 Pontiac grand prix?

Asked by carebear381 Dec 12, 2014 at 08:03 PM about the Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Car Customization

My husband and I bought a used 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix.  There was an after market stereo in it when we bought it. After a year or so the radio went out. So we bought a new one. When we went to install it we were not getting any power to it. We then took it to Best Buy to see if they could install it. They told us that we need the factory radio in order to install the after factory radio.  Bottom line we have a stereo that apparently we cant put in and no factory radio in order to do it. Please Help!!!!

I know this is old. When I did my 04 Grand Prix I took the red power wire and ran it to the sunroof fuse panel, it has to have constant power. Although if you bought the right harness for it I believe they're $60 or more. It's because you have the steering wheel radio controls.
