Brake Lines

Asked by GuruNN7L Apr 25, 2017 at 03:55 PM about the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been told that this model Olds Cutlass had copper brake lines - is this
true? If so what kind of problems can this lead to with a car that has 178,000
miles on it?

I always thought brake lines were steel which is drawn by a magnet. Teflon coated steel lines are now in use. Copper lines I have been told are not strong enough for brake lines but copper would never rust or corrode. Honda has been know to use stainless steel which is also non corrosive. That's all I know.
