What year 302 engine? You would be better off getting a 4.6 or 5.4 Triton from the same year F150.

Not a good idea. Your truck will not be smog legal and the 302 would not work with your transmission and ECU. You will need the correct ECU for the engine you swap in but it has to be compatible with your transmission unless you have a manual.

It would easier to install a Cummins 4BT or a 6B Diesel. All the parts are out there to get it done. Not alot info out there for the 302 swap, but with a stand alone engine controller and a stand alone trans controller its doable with some effort. I have heard you need the motor mounts both sides (motor & frame sides) from the 302. Not sure if the trans you have in the 150 will bolt up but have heard it will not so if you get the trans and trans brace and mounts from the 302 and its ECM you may use it for you computer needs. You will need truck exhaust manifolds and may have to cut them and splice together to fit. I would have towing kit put in trans first.

Would a F150 handle the Cummins weight? Not much front suspension on these trucks.

Yep the 4BT for sure no mods to frame or suspension and many are doing the same with the 6B 5.9l too its tight fit but I have not heard of any issues it does in-fact fit with the correct parts which are already made and sold for it and there is many suppliers selling kits for them so if it needs heavy duty springs I am sure they must have them.

Cummins & companies are setting Kits up for this very reason and the first project with a kit you could buy to swap was a Ford ranger to 4BT so the F150 is bigger in every way.

I will go ahead and tell yall. I have a cousin living full time in a State with some of the toughest inspection laws. He has a 98 F150 long bed regular cab with a 4BT in it since the early 2000's, the 4BT is 98 model, he does not have a shop/garage just a dirt driveway, yes my other cousins are mechanics and they have tools and most do or did work in garages/commercial mechanic shops but knowing this one cousin he did 99% of this install and may have gotten advise from the others and (next day not a year later to work out bugs or fix issues or have engine weight problems ect he did not have no break downs not one) then drove it 732 miles to my house, then next day after camping in my yard drove another 600 miles to LA when Katrina hit New Orleans and worked there doing volunteer work for months and then drove back here camped again truck still driving fine and we did a vacation to see him 7 months ago and the truck is still going on the same engine that was used when he bought the engine and did the swap in his yard and still passes the tough inspections there.

The donor truck was a construction grade Ford that carried supplies to (pallets of bricks, roofing, lumber ect) new home building sites. He used the Allison transmission too, He bought the whole truck damaged, sold the rest for scrap metal.
