Will the transmission from a 1999 Ford F150 XLT Supercab, 5.4 engine, 4X4 fit a 2004 Ford F150 FX4, 4X4, 5.4 engine? The 1999 has the shift on the steering column and the 2004 is on the centre consol

Asked by RCNCPOHank May 07, 2016 at 09:56 AM about the Ford F-150

Question type: General

The overdrive button on the 1999 is at the end of the shift lever on the columm and the overdrive button on the 2004 is on the shift indicator on the console.  I suspect that they are both electric and although I have not even looked at it, should be relatively easy to convert from one location to another.  Having said that, I am not sure about the bell housing bolt pattern, linkage hookup , etc.  Thanks for any help that anyone might be able to provide.  Regards, Hank

Is the tranny from the 2004 a 4R75W? Is your's a 4R70W? They should bolt up, but I suspect you will have to take the PCM from the newer transmission along with you when you do the swap.
