You said you had no fire from the coil, meaning you pulled off the main coil wire off, had someone, try to start the motor and no spark came out, were coil wire was, the current should have jumped to what was close to it and should have been blue Check to see if your getting power to the coil with the ignition switch on, if how many miles on motor, check the point, under the distributor cap, are they opening and closing and is the shaft turning, if you have a lot of miles on the engine, grab the distributor and see if it moves side to side. Do you have a test light or voltmeter? Check the wires that goes to the coil. I think it's going to be Red and Green or black. I can't remember. Check and see how much voltage your getting from them. should be around 11-12 volts. Turn the key on...One should be hot...Other one I think is hot when your cranking the vehicle over. When you ground out the Coil-Distributor plug wire to the engine block does it spark when you try and crank the engine?

If you are sure you are getting spark from the coil (Lance's) procedure. Then there may be a problem with the ICM or a bad PIP (crank sensor) also. Have you checked the high tension wire from the coil to the distributor for defects.

I think it's possible that it's the ignition coil wiring harness my 95 f150 has been doing the same thing. The last time it did it I pulled off the wiring harness and one of the wires felt a bit loose I pushed it in a little further and plugged it back in, just to see if it did anything and it fired up immediately. I haven't replaced the part yet I wanna wait to see if it happens again and if the same thing works.

Could be that the coil is weak. Blue spark is good, yellow spark means weak coil.
