On the Expedition it lists: 1997 4-speed E4OD automatic 1998–2002 4-speed 4R100 automatic 1997–2002 4-speed 4R70W automatic...and the 4r75w didn't get used in the Expedition until the second generation beginning 2003

Randy that does not mean it won't work. It would be great if you could get a hold of one and use a tape and measure the bell housing bolt pattern..I have a feeling it will go in your '04, just because they didn't offer them new from the factory that year, the 4.6L was used in both, that is what makes me think it will

I did some more looking and hey Randy, they all had the same engine back to 2001 allright, should be fine

I also found this: Matched to the new 5.4-liter V-8 is a new 4R75E automatic transmission, an evolution of the 4R70E used on the current F-150. Upgraded to handle the torque of the 5.4-liter engine, this transmission shares patented upgrades with the 4R70E, which backs the 4.6-liter V-8...Randy looks like you will be fine with it

all 2004 GTs and Mach 1s come with a 4r75w 4r75w comes in 2003 5.4 L trucks (F150, E-series Van, and Expedition) 2004 4R75W used in Mercury Marauder, Police Interceptor, V8 Mustang (GT and Mach 1), and 5.4 L-2v trucks (E-series Van, and Expedition) but the truck and big body versions have a 1" longer tailshaft. So you'd have to shorten your driveshaft...you could use the guts of a truck 4R75W and put them into a 4R70W you might already have

I have a 2007 f150 4.6l. It's a 4r75w. Will a tranny from a 2002 work on my truck? Neighbor is parting the 2002 out and if it will work I can get a good deal
