I have a 2007 f-150 that just started one day makeing a nosie from under the truck.

The nosie dont happen all the time,so i dont no if something is just starting to go or what. the nosie started about 2 weeks ago its a grinding howling nosie sounds just loud as hell from under the truck, it stoped as soon as i put the breaks on real hard,and when i did that. it sounded like the transfer case was trying to shift back an fourth, alot of clincking and bagging when it stopped, but it did stop as soon as i put the breaks on. i notice it more with speeds of 35 to 50 when it starts,but happen also on the e-way once. So! i was thinking it was a wheel bearing,but everything tight there. so thats what i was thinking maybe it as to be in the transfer-case because of the nosie it was putting off, but if anybody can help me figure this problem out sure would help.

I had a intermittent deal and thought something was going to blow, it wound up being a u-joint that was seizing up now and then and would shake the crap out of the hanger bearing, the only way i found it was getting mad and jacking everything up and turning it over by hand and even then i think i had took the drive shaft off and was checking each joint by hand. i think i would look at your transfer case and drop the oil, see if there is a bunch of filings in it, while your at it when was the last time your rear end was changed, my little brother had a terrible racket going and when i checked the rear end i couldnt even get a cup full of oil out of it. sounded a lot better with oil and a new rear end plate cause it had a hole in it but the damage was done.
