1984 Ford Econoline starter??

My van first just died on me driving down the freeway  and was turning over but wouldn't fire. the next morning it started right up without any hesitation.. drove it home. turned it off. and now it wont start at all. i was thinking the starter? the lights all come on but flicker when the key is in the start position.. wires all seem connected... any tips or ideas???

It seems you have two different problems. The second problem could be the alternator. It would help if you identified the motor you have.
