Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a small Mh mounted on an e250 5.8l motor. When I start it starts right up....seems smooth idle (not a mechanic here) but if I engage into drive (or reverse) it stutter and stops....  WHy? is it a cheap fix...cause i have to do a 1000 mile road trip with it!

Check your transmission, sounds like the torque converter may be sticking or not engaging correctly, could be connection electrodes, or torque converter may need replaced.
