I have a 2006 ford crown Vic with a 4.6
L Modular V8 engine. It's got 152435 miles on it,
what's the best oil to put in it.
5W-20. My Triton engines have a lot more miles than that and the 5W-20 oil still works just fine with almost no oil consumption.
I would use 5w20 MotorCraft synthetic blend which is available at your local Walmart, Ford dealership and local auto parts retailers. The price is best at Walmart. I have been using this oil for years without issue and curently run it in my 2004 Mercury Marauder, 2014 Lincoln 3.7 AWD MKZ and my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. Also I recommend using a MotorCraft oil filter available at the same places listed above. I would avoid any oil filter that is made by Fram. Change your oil every 5,000 miles or 1 year if driving in stop and go traffic or making frequent trips under 10 miles. If you drive a lot on the highway, change the oil every 7,500 miles or 1 year.
Fram filters are good as long as they are not orange. Millions of miles on my engines with mostly Fram filters without a single oil related issue.
Fram filters may never cause an issue, but their design of using paper end caps is poor in my opinion. I do use their air filters, but I will not use their oil filters.
