my car sputters just a little bit when I step on the gas could that be the distibutor leak i have

Water in the gas or spark plugs/plug wires not seated on the plugs correctly. If it is leaking oil around the distributor no that is not it unless it could get under the cap which I doubt.

If it has a cap it could be getting in it if you see oil on it. Do your tune up and add a bottle of dry gas to the tank too.
