AC with heater

Asked by Guru58ZKF Jan 27, 2018 at 11:23 AM about the Jaguar X-TYPE

Question type: General

I have a 2006 Jag X-Type VDP. My car manual suggests that I have the AC button on when I am running the heater. Is this really necessary? It's only function seems to be not making the windows fog up. It also does not help with gas mileage. Anybody have an answer to this?  Thanks!

Having the ac button on will not affect gas mileage since compressor will not engage til the temperature is above ur setpoint, that's what adds load to the engine and if ur running the heater, ur setpoint is higher than ambient temperature so compressor doesn't engage.
