how do you know whether or not your fuel pump is bad on a 1996 buick roadmaster estate wagon

well one trick i like is to have someone crank the car over and over while you hit the gas tank with a hammer right about where the fuel pump is or just aim for the middle of the tank and if it starts or tries to start then you know its the fuel pump!
