Check engine light flashing

Starting and immediately switching automatically off

Means you should get the code read. If you don't have a code reader and don't want to pay a shop to pull it, take it to any parts store, they'll often read it for free.

Scan for the OBDii 4 digit fault codes since the CEL is on, why guess? You can pick one up for $20 or have auto part store do it for free. Post the codes back here for more help.

A flashing check engine light is warning that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. Have it scanned for trouble codes as mentioned above. Most auto parts stores will do it for free. HTH. -Jim
