99 Civic Dies When I Press the Gas, Thought it was the fuel pump but its still not starting.
Okay so heres the deal:
So I let my hatch get to empty about a week or two
ago and it was having a hard time starting
(obviously) so I got her to the gas station and filled
her up and she started right up. As soon as I left
the gas station, i went to the gym, came out and it
wouldnt start. I mean at all. Nothing.
So i walked home and got a ride down there about
2 hours later and it started right up just fine!
So i thought nothing of it, i figured it was just
becAuse it was on empty before.
So fast foward a couple days im driving to the
store and when I press the gas it dies. It didnt start
back up at all again so i pushed it home.
So i thought it was the fuel pump and changed my
fuel pump 2 days ago. Now my car willstart, kind
of, but as soon as i press the gas pedal it dies.
So it will barely be running and ill give it gas and it
just completely shuts off.
Please help!? Does anyone have any clue whats
When you let the tank run down, the pump was working dry and that shouldn't be done, plus it's an older car and more then likely you burnt the fuel pump out...the way to tell you will need to get a pressure reading
Right, i changed my fuel pump about 2 days ago. Now it will barely start but when i press the gas, it dies.
Good so that takes that out of the equation, the next part in line is the fuel regulator, as its name states it regulates the fuel being feed in to car, this may need to be looked at.
Thank you! Im going to check that out!
Letting tank get that low can cause gunk to get sucked into fuel pump/filter/line/regulator.
Okay you guys I need help again! I changed my distributor cap and now it starts! yay! But! Now my check engine light came on and my engine is rhymthicaly, softly reving without touching anything.. Help!!!
