Why does my 1998 Nissan Maxima keep losing power and brake light comes on?

Asked by Coupe_3166 Apr 29, 2016 at 05:49 PM about the Nissan Maxima

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car shuts down while idleing and driving. The brakes get hard(lock) do not work, and the brake light comes on. I just had an oil change and alignment they said the brakes were fine but I need the rear emergency brake fixed. Could this be causing the problem?

When the car stalls the power assist for the brakes is not functioning they will be very hard to press. Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down. The E-brake is not causing the stalling issue!
