I am looking at buying a 05 altima with 160, 000 miles. Do you think it is a good deal for $4000? And how long do those engines usually last?

It all depends on the condition and how it was maintained. Engines that have had regular oil changes should last 200,000 miles or more.

8 year old car, so about 20k per year. That's high, but nothing to really worry about. Tenspeed makes good points; don't put stock in mileage. Get the entire car looked over, especially engine, transmission, driveline, brakes, suspension and put stock in that. If you take care of a car (and I'll say pretty much any car), it will last 12 or more years (I've got an '01 Frontier I bought new still going strong; daily driver and I wheel it off road regularly). Plus, as far as engines go, they're relatively easy to find and cheaper to swap out than buying a new car (thought it's an expensive, time-consuming, and delicate process if it has to be done).

Would depend on whether or not. If that upper catalytic converter has failed. Or getting ready to fail. When failure occurs the packing falls down inside the exhaust pipe. Blocking the lower catalytic converter. And the rest of that packing gets sucked back inside your motor. Going directly into your cylinders,destroying your rings. So you now own an oil burner. That will continue to go down hill very quickly too. So there is no,just getting by.

I have a 2000 Altima with 245,000 miles on the odometer. It is now April 2018. It probably has more than 300,000 because starting around 2007 the dashboard would mysteriously fade out or have strange symbols on it. during these periods, it does not record mileage on the odometer. This happens about half the time. I've also had tor replace the computer in 2008 when the engine suddenly ran rough and the car conked out on the freeway. After the new computer it ran fine for a few years, then it happened again. Luckily I was about a block from my mechanic who determined the #2 cylinder was not firing. After an hour it ran fine for another year and did the same thing again. Kinda random. If you're buying it at 160K miles, You can expect to get at least 40K more miles on it, or more.

i want to purches a 2007 nissan altima it was kept in really good condition and mentained well but the thing is it has 197,xxx mils should i buy it or avoid it

Don't buy altima with more than 150 miles. If you still wanna buy, make sure to check : -the front floors left and right side are corroted -Timmin belt is cracked -any leaks? (check carrefully all the seal of your engine system) -flush the transmission...important -change the spark plugs -change the outer tie rod (inner tie rod are usually ok) -check the ball joint(but usually they ok, but still check it) -Sometime the camshaft and crankshaft sensor dont last longer, make sure they still ok with the scanner finally, altima are really great cars and they can last long. You need to take a good care of the altima. They do have personal ussues. When buying and altima, you should not pay tomuch. for a 2005 altima with more than 200miles - reasonable price 1200$ a 2009 altima with more than 200miles - reasnable price around 1500$

Hello, 1st thing I owned a 2005 Altima, very meticulous service history, however the heads are Known for that weak link. Transmission not to strong and in my words was junk. Started having issues around 98,000 miles where it would kick hard from 2nd to 3rd gear then smooth out. Another weak link the air conditioner pretty much give out. They usually start making noise and if not addressed at that point it will seize. I had mine seize and would not let the engine crank, fearing that the engine was toast I had it towed in to Nissan and wanted 1400 to install a new one and get it working. To me personally that was more than the car was worth. I Also had to do a head gasket in it around 130 miles. And of course cost 2100.00 I still have the car and it runs great but I ended up buying a Used 2009 Toyota CamryWith 29,000 miles on it And have had zero issues with it other than standard maintenance and Mileage now at 240,000 miles on it and Still is Dependable and trust it to go anywhere. Also last thing on Altima. The Factory paint is probably the poorest in the industry. With total fade out at the around 9 years even waxing and cleaning regularly. So to answer all the questions with anyone wanting (not owning “RUN AWAY FROM IT AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND BUY A HONDA OR TOYOTA. Just keeping it real.

Hi I have a 2005 Altima 3.5 l with 180000 miles . I got very little problem with it. I needed it a new windshield wiper motor last year and a camshaft sensor. I changed my transmission oil at 100000 and I’m going to do another one soon. I have been thinking about selling but it’s just a great car. Paint job is excellent. I just reasontly ceramic coated the car. My only question is how long is the transmission good for.

Hey 2011 altima has heated seats a sunroof and it’s leather. It has 161,000 miles but still runs great and also has new tires. Great transmission only thing that needs to be replaced is the mass air flow sensor and the oil which all be done before being sold. Looking for about 5k of your interested
