I have va 423CDI van and it will not get over 79/80 degrees Celcius

The thermostat opens at 80 degrees and basic automotive engineering dictates a temp of at least 84/85 degrees is need to ensure complete combustion. The local lads tell me this is "normal"..QUE??

I would install a 90 or 95 degree t-stat.
