dodge ram 2500 unstable steering

Asked by Christina Feb 20, 2019 at 01:43 PM about the Dodge RAM 3500 Chassis

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my dodge ram 2500 shakes uncontrollably when we hit a bump with the right wheel.  The vehicle will go back to normal steering if you completely stop vehicle motion.  It does not require a restart.  it thumps at regular intervals and will pull the vehicle off the road some times in one direction sometimes in the other.

This is a common problem. Search You Tube for "Death Wobble" and happens to Jeeps, Dodge, and Ford trucks. There are videos that describe the problem. It is caused by loose components in the front end (tie rods, bushings, out of balance tires, etc.)
