Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my Kia Rio when I had my clutch in and at a stop my car cut off on me.
Suspecting a timing belt issue I towed it home and took off the timing belt cover the belt
was not broken but I could see teeth missing from underneath the belt. So I assume it
slipped. Is this either worse or better for me and how do I check to find out it the valves
and pistons are bad on the car?

Compression check on each cylinder. You should have a minimum of 100, you don't mention mileage or even year so compression can vary, but if you have no less than 100 you are good. If one or more shows 20, 60, spells trouble.

Will not be able to check compression until it is aligned to the timing marks with a NEW timing belt and tensioner~~ I'll cross my fingers for your engine, but chances are momentum carried it until internal collision...as I said "toast"---gromit~
