Lotus Evora vs BMW M3. Which one is better and why?

Sort of a bad question. They are very different cars and both are very good. If you want a fast car that doesn't draw a lot of attention and doesn't trade off much at all in terms of usability then the M3 is probably the best car out there. It is easy to live with and many people won't even recognize it as being something special. The M3 is a supercar in almost every measure, but since it is based on a more common car it blends into traffic and parts aren't too hard to come by. You basically have a BMW 3- series, which is a fantastic car, bu better in every way. The Lotus on the other hand isn't any of those. The Evora is a great car,s but it gets attention is a way that only a mid-engine cars does. But running one daily won't be as normal as an M3. Everything from getting in an out of the seat to trunk space is compromised. The mechanical bits are solid, since Lotus is using Toyota parts. But trim Evora specific bits can be hard/expensive to source. Around a closed course it is probably a bit of a toss up. The M3 has power, the Lotus has finesse. Fastest time would probably come down to the rack choice. I love both brands and own an older model of each brand. But if someone had the keys to both and asked me to choose, I'd probably choose the Lotus. Mainly because I want to know what it feel like when compared to mine. I know that the BMW is going to be great. But if the Evora is anything like my Esprit than the drive will be memorable.
