Glass roofs

Asked by May 12, 2017 at 12:34 PM about the Tesla Model S

Question type: General

Have the designers of the model S with
it's glass roof considered the danger of
UVA and UVB rays? You could have a lot
pass skin cancer cases...I'm very
concerned about it. Will there be an
option for a solid non glass roof?

I'm sure they though about it and if it worries you so much, don't buy the car...

Glass blocks UVB. My guess is that Tesla coated the glass to block UVA as well but check their specs or ask a salesman.

If it bothers you that much just have it tinted

They block UVA/UVB as well as have heat rejection and tinting on the all glass roof. Let me know if you have any questions about it. I have that configuration.

Why didn't they create the option for a motorized cover, like the reverse of the moon roof! I for one want this car but don't want to have to wear a hat every time I drive it!
