12 volt systsem

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought a 1995 Eruovan-Winnebago. Everything was working fine,
but now, the things that run on the auxiliary battery (interior lights, water
pump, gauges etc.) will not turn on unless we put the key in the ignition.
When we do, there's a noise coming from behind the galley area, sounds like
a fan. I'm wondering why the car needs to be switched on for the auxiliary
battery to run. Is this normal? Does it mean the stuff is running on the
automotive battery? Is there a fix?
